Face mounting involves adhering a sheet of PMMA (Acrylic) to the face of a print using silicone. Then, the print and acrylic sheeting is overall adhered to aluminium or Dibond. It’s commonly referred to as the Diasec technique. For certain works, it can offer a clean, unobstructed presentation and can enhance color and contrast. When face mounting is employed, framing is not necessary. A rigid chassis can be adhered to the back of the work which offers a hanging solution and spaces the work slightly from the wall. However, face mounted prints can framed, if desired.
