Photographic documents deteriorate with time. Some forms of deterioration are irreversible, such as image fading, for example. But, many forms of physical deterioration (folds, tears, losses, distortion) and surface aspect deterioration (soiling and accretion) may be treated.
Treatment is always preceded by identifying the process, recording any damage, and analyzing its cause. This data is gathered in a report which will be provided to the client along with details on the treatments that were performed. Further recommendations for conservation treatment are also provided.
